But I tried a few tricks, and luckily they worked in speeding up the iPhone restore from an iTunes backup. Take a look at them!
Tips to Speed Up iPhone Restore from iTunes Backup
Update iTunes to the Latest Version
If you no longer want to wait for the restore process, the first thing I would suggest you is to update iTunes to the latest version; if you haven’t done it as yet. Many times, I found the old version of the media library coming in the way and making the restore process too lengthy. So, it’s worth giving a go to this simple trick. Step #1. Disconnect your iOS device from the computer. Now, On your Mac:
Open the App Store and click on Updates at the top of the windowThen, Install the latest iTunes update
On your Windows PC:
Open iTunes. Then, choose Help menu bar → Check for UpdatesThen, go ahead with the prompts to install the latest version
Step #2. Once you have successfully updated iTunes, connect your device and then go ahead with the restore process as usual.
Check out the Wi-Fi Connection
The second thing you should do is to ensure you have a proper Wi-Fi connection. Step #1. Turn off Wi-Fi and then, restart your computer. Step #2. Restart your iOS device as well. Simply press the ON/OFF button at then swipe to power off. On your iPhone X, iPhone 8/8 Plus, you have to press and hold both side button and either volume up or down button at once. Then, swipe to power off. Next, press the ON/OFF button on your iOS device to turn it on. Step #3. Once your computer and iOS device has restarted, open iTunes and follow the restore/setup process and select “Restore from Backup with iTunes” on your iOS device.
Use a Third Party Tool to Restore Your Data Selectively
If you are still struggling to restore your device from a backup, it’s time to restore your data manually. Take the help of a third party tool. Among quite a few third-party tools, the one I have always preferred using is FonePaw. You can use it to restore your iPhone from both iTunes and iCloud backup without any problem. Moreover, it also allows you to select the data that you want to restore. Hence, you can avoid restoring unnecessary data. If the backup file is huge, it’s the better way to go. Step #1. Download and install FonePaw on your computer. It’s available for both Mac and Windows. Step #2. Now, open the program and click “Recover from iTunes Backup File”. Step #3. Now, your iTunes backup files will appear on your computer. You need to select the most recent backup and click “Start Scan”. Step #4. Restore iPhone data from iTunes backup, Once scanning is completed, all files will appear. You can check the detail information by clicking the icon of the respective apps like Camera Roll, Photo Stream, Contacts, Messages, etc. Then, choose the items you wish to recover and click “Recover” button. That’s it! Now, wait for the recovering process to be completed. That’s done! Wrap up: So, which one of the three above mentioned tricks have you used to make the restore process a smooth-sailing task? I’d be glad to know that.
